More Information About Your Mediator
I started CFR Mediation in 2007, after more than 15 years as a psychotherapist working with a variety of people and organizations. Throughout my career I have focused on problem solving and conflict resolution. CFR Mediation is designed to address the specialized needs of individuals in conflict situations. Specifically, CFR is the result of my frustration that couples who made the decision to divorce – generally after periods of prolonged emotional distress – so often ended up in a protracted litigious dispute with one another. Attorneys and the traditional litigated divorce process itself became additional stressors: increasing the conflict, emotional discord, and expense experienced by the couple and family. This desire to assist couples faced with the task of resolving their divorce-related conflicts through mediation, led me to expand my focus to other disputes as well; including workplace and business conflicts. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) in 1991 and my Master of Social Work (MSW) in 1994 from the University of Kentucky, College of Social Work. In 2006, I was certified as a mediator by School of Continuing Studies of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. In addition to my clinical work, I have consulted with organizations, taught classes in social work at University of Illinois at Chicago, and was a writer and contributor to About.com, a New York Times company, creating the borderline personality disorder site (bpd.about.com) Unresolved conflict and litigation brings to significant difficulty to individuals and organizations. As a mediator I am able to assist creative solutions for a wide range of conflicts that otherwise would be a costly stressful process. It is an honor to be the trusted mediation provider, every case receives my utmost and direct attention. CFR Mediation clients feel positive about both the process and the resulting agreement. Conflict is not pleasant, but addressing it need not be additionally so.
