CFR's Founder
Throughout her career, Ms. Johnston has focused on problem solving and conflict resolution. She has been helping families, couples, and individuals resolve conflicts since 1991. Of particular interest has been assisting in the successful resolution of couple and family conflicts in as peaceful and positive of a manner as possible. Whether the client is a couple trying to figure out how to stay together or how to fully separate, she focuses on assisting the parties in creating a purposeful plan for resolution that is effective in both the present and the future. Her philosophy is that while it is never pleasant to be involved in a conflict, whether divorce or other interpersonal issue, neither the resolution process nor the outcome need compound the distress or the conflict. Erin Johnston received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) in 1991 and her Master of Social Work (MSW) in 1994 from the University of Kentucky, College of Social Work. In addition to participating in various seminars and trainings throughout her career, she completed Interdisciplinary Collaborative Basic Training through the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois and received her certificate in Divorce Mediation through Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She has served as an adjunct professor at University of Illinois at Chicago; has been a writer and contributor to About.com, a New York Times company, creating the borderline personality disorder site (bpd.about.com); has written extensively about communication, behavioral health, and human relationships; and has spoken on the topics of mediation/ADR at various state and national organizations. |
